Menu Area and Game Control

The menu area contains all the buttons you need whilst playing a game, and also provides you with some basic game information:

  • Number of redeals left. Shows the number of redeals left in the game. If the game does not use redeals at all, the text just reads "No redeals". If you have used up all available redeals, it says "No more redeals".

  • Number of cards left in the stock.

  • Progress through series. (Registered game only.) Only shown if a series is in progress. Shows the number of the current game in progress and the total number of games in the series in the space just above the first quick-select game button

  • Clock. Shows the time in 24-hour format. (Only if turned on in the Settings tab of the Options window.)

  • Current player. Always shown as "Guest" in unregistered game. Otherwise, shows the player currently playing a game (i.e., the logged-in user for single-player games, and the "player up" for multi-player games). If multiple players are active in a tournament, also shows the player number and total amount of active players.

UNDO. Repeatedly clicking this button with the left mouse button undoes the changes made, one move at a time. Keyboard shortcut: Z

REDO. Repeatedly right-clicking this button redoes any undos you've just made, one move at a time. Keyboard shortcut: X

AUTOPLAY. In most games, moves all free and legal cards onto the foundations. Keyboard shortcut: A
REDEAL. In most games, turns the stock over when empty (like in Klondike), or re-shuffles and redeals the cards onto the tableau (like in Belle Lucie). In games with an on-screen stock, another way to redeal is to click the empty space where the stock was before it ran out. Keyboard shortcut: SPACE (which also deals card from the stock where applicable.)
NEW. Starts a new game of the same type (or possibly the next game in a series, if a series is in progress). Keyboard shortcut: N

In the dialog box that appears, you have three choices:

  • Start a new random deal by clicking the Random button.

  • Re-try the latest deal by clicking the Same/Code button (without changing the code in the "Code" field).

  • Re-try any specific deal of your choice by entering its numeric code in the "Code" field and then clicking the Same/Code button.

If you want to save the code for a specific deal to re-try it at a later date, just click New in the menu and copy the code shown in the Code field of the New Game dialogue box to a safe place.

Right-clicking on the NEW button starts a new random game immediately, without showing the choices listed above. There is also a choice to transfer this one-click function to the left mouse button in the Settings tab of the Options window.

HELP. Clicking this button with the left mouse button shows help for the current game type by overlaying the positions on the table with explanatory texts. Click a second time to de-activate the help display and continue. Keyboard shortcut: F1

HINT. Clicking the button with the right mouse button picks a card that can be moved or matched, and highlights it to give you a hint. If several cards can be moved, one is chosen at random each time you use the hint function. Note that these hints do not indicate recommended moves, just possible ones; they may even block you from winning the game, so use with caution! (Note: this function does not work with all matching games, or "pathmaking" games involving three or more cards, such as Cakewalk — but it usually finds some possible matches even there.) Keyboard shortcut: H

(You can switch the functions of the mouse buttons for this button around too, also with an option available in the Settings tab of the Options window.)

QUICK-SELECT GAME BUTTONS. Six buttons that switch to another kind of game. The first time you start the game, six all-time Solitaire classics are presented on these buttons. When you select new games, the last game played will always be shown on the top button, and the previous games move down the order so that it gradually becomes a "recent history list" of the last six games you've played.
OPTIONS. Opens the SoliLuxe Options window where you can select any game from the SoliLuxe database, set up graphics and sound options, activate alternative input methods, set a size for the gameplay window, and much much more! Keyboard shortcut: O
INFO. Opens a window showing this help.
QUIT. Quits the game. (You will be asked for confirmation.) Keyboard shortcut: Esc
