Quick start
Leave this checked unless you have made changes to a patience rule
file, or added/deleted games in the /rules subfolder. Unchecking
Quick start does two things next time you start SoliLuxe:
Note: The first time you run a new version of SoliLuxe, the game index is always rebuilt for you to include any personal rule files you have placed in the /rules subfolder.
Start a game immediately upon loading SoliLuxe
Only enabled when Quick start is
NOT checked. Saves you the trouble of clicking the New button
when starting SoliLuxe.
SoliLuxe Window Size
Gives you the option to start SoliLuxe in full screen mode, or
in a smaller window.
Note 1: If you select fullscreen mode and you monitor is larger than 1680x1050 pixels, black areas will be added around the actual playing area to fill out the screen. If your monitor is smaller, the SoliLuxe playing area will be scaled down to fit the screen, and padded with black borders if necessary to maintain the 16:10 aspect ratio.
Note 2: Even when playing in windowed mode, you can maximize the window to fill out the screen with black borders around the playing area. (One advantage to this over proper fullscreen mode is that SoliLuxe does not cover up the Windows task bar in windowed mode.)
System Look and Feel
With this checkbox checked, SoliLuxe will try to
mimick the user interface of your operating system when displaying
the Options window. Unchecking it will make SoliLuxe use the standard,
cross-platform Java GUI.
Create solvable puzzles for Mahjong
With this checkbox checked, SoliLuxe will only generate Mahjong
puzzles with tiles placed in such a way that the puzzles can be
solved. However, bear in mind that there will still be numerous
ways to fail depending on how you play. SoliLuxe has even been told to
insert some nasty "traps" here and there to make this more likely!
Note: When developing new Mahjong games, this setting should be OFF. The algorithm requires that the number of tiles to be placed and the number of positions to place them on match exactly, otherwise the game locks up!
Use two-click input for all games
Normally, you can move cards in "building-style" games by clicking
and dragging cards and sequences. Using two-click means you first
click the source card (or bottom card of a sequence), and then click
the destination position. This may be of use if you suffer from bad
mouse control or a fiddly input device like a touchpad.
Auto-flip newly exposed face-down cards
Saves you the trouble of clicking each face-down card that becomes
available for play during the game to turn it face up.
Enable the Undo function
For fanatically rigorous players: Uncheck this if you want to
prevent yourself from "cheating" during games.
Prompt to confirm new game
Leave this checked if you are prone to accidental clicks on the
New or quick-select buttons: You will
always be asked to confirm before SoliLuxe starts a new game.
Swap mouse buttons on NEW button
Normally, left-clicking the New button brings up a dialog
where you can choose to play a new random deal, replay the current
deal, or select a specific deal to play. Right-clicking the NEW button
immediately starts a new, random game. When this checkbox is ticked,
the roles of the mouse buttons will be reversed, so that it is the
left mouse button that bypasses the advanced new game dialog.
Enable the Hint function
When this is checked, pressing the H keyboard key or
right-clicking the Help (?) button in the menu area will
highlight a card that can be moved.
Swap mouse buttons on HELP button
Normally, left-clicking the ? button in the menu area
brings the on-screen help, and right-clicking activates the hint
function. When this checkbox is ticked, the roles of the mouse buttons
will be reversed.
Show tooltips for positions automatically
When checked, resting the mouse cursor above a stack of cards for
a few seconds will show the name of the position and the number of
cards placed there. If unchecked, you can still see this information
by placing the cursor on top of a stack of cards and pressing the F2 key.
Show clock
Check this if you want the time displayed in the lower right corner
of the menu area. (Good for those full-screen players who easily lose
track of time!). The clock shows the time in 24 hour format.
Show score during play
This will show the current score in a box on the table backdrop
during play. This can also be toggled directly from the main game
screen using keyboard shortcut D.
(Some games have custom score displays that are always on regardless of this checkbox — for example, Bowling and Poker.)
Show animations during initial deals and redeals
When unchecked, the result of an initial deal or redeal is shown
instantaneously instead of animating the movement of each card.
Show animations for card movements
When unchecked, no card movements or flips will be animated.
Show extra animations for game events
Turn on small graphic embellishments to serve as indicators and
"rewards" when stuff happen during play — such as completing a
foundation pile.
Animation Speed Adjustment
Moving this slider to the right speeds up card animations, and
vice versa.
Play fanfare when winning
If unchecked, the "completed" graphic that is shown when finishing
a game will appear without an accompanying fanfare.
Enable Sound effects
When unchecked, SoliLuxe will be completely silent.
Sound Volume
Adjusts the volume of all sound effects.
Play music
The built-in music player is only available to registered users.
When checked, SoliLuxe will play the .ogg and .mp3 music files located
in a directory of your choice (starting over when it runs out of tunes).
By default, this is the SoliLuxe /music folder. (When playing a game,
use the P keyboard key to toggle music on/off.)
Random play order
When checked, the music player will choose amongst its available
music files at random.
|< Button (Previous)
Skips the current song and moves to the previous one. (When
playing a game, use the B keyboard key to skip backwards.)
>| Button (Next)
Skips the current song and moves to the next one. (When playing
a game, use the S keyboard key to skip forwards.)
Set Music Folder... Button
Opens a dialog box where you can select the folder containing the
.ogg or .mp3 music files you want to listen to. (Note that the file
dialog window does not show the actual music files, just directories.
Also, the player does not search for music files in any subfolders
of the selected folder.)
Music Volume
Adjusts the volume of the music player. (When playing a game,
use the . and , keyboard keys to raise or lower the
volume.)
